Andy Shin
Andy Shin, 16, is a junior at the Beaverton Academy of Science and Engineering in Portland, Oregon, and studies cello with Maria Shim. He has served as Co-Principal cellist of the Portland Youth Philharmonic (PYP) and Camerata PYP since 2023.
As a soloist, Andy made his orchestral debut at 13 with members of the Oregon Symphony as a winner of the MetroArts Young Artist Debut! Competition. He later performed with PYP as the winner of the 2024-25 PYP Concerto Competition. In 2024, Andy was named Oregon’s Cello State Champion, and his quartet won first place at the OMEA/OSAA State Solo and Ensemble Contests.
Andy was selected for the 2024 Bowdoin International Music Festival and the 2025 National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, where he served as Principal Cellist and received second place in the NSOSMI Concerto Competition. He is a passionate musician committed to sharing happiness through his playing.
