Avery Armstrong

Avery Armstrong, age 12, is a student of Rose Chen at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She was recently named a laureate of the Ross McKee Piano Foundation and earned first prizes at the Marilyn Mindell Piano Competition, Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, Chicago International Music Competition, United States International Music Competition, and numerous others.

An enthusiastic chamber musician, Avery attended the Music@Menlo Chamber Music Festival and took the Grand Prize at the ENKOR International Chamber Music Competition. As a concerto competition winner she is looking forward to soloing with the Central Oregon Symphony in the Spring.

Outside the concert hall, Avery volunteers at a local animal shelter, shares her home with four adored rescue cats, and pursues her passion for biology as an active member of her school’s Biology Olympiad Club. She also loves the puzzle of math contests and recently qualified for AIME.
