Christie Cheung

Christie Cheung, fifteen years old, is a violinist studying at the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists as a Temerty Foundation Scholarship recipient, where she studies with Barry Shiffman and Conrad Chow. She has performed for renowned violinists such as Maxim Vengerov, Augustin Hadelich, Ida Kavafian, Miriam Fried, and James Ehnes. Christie has earned major distinctions, including first prize in the Canimex Canadian Music Competition, the Grand Trophy Award at the CCC Toronto International Music Festival, selection as a finalist at the Ysaye International Music Competition (Belgium), and first prize in the Little Mozart International Competition (New York). She has appeared as a soloist with orchestras including the Glenn Gould Chamber Orchestra, the Burlington New Millennium Orchestra, and the Oakville Chamber Orchestra. She made her Carnegie Hall debut at age nine and has attended Morningside Music Bridge, Chamber Music Northwest, and the Heifetz International Institute of Music.
